The first and only Starbucks cafe in the island opened its doors on thr Hip Strip in the Second City on monday night (November 20,2017),and Montegonians and coffee lovers flocked to get their coffee fix.
The Gloucester Avenue outlet has been highly anticipated,and much will be touted about the new franchise to the Jamaican landscape in the coming weeks.

A

EROBICS INSTRUCTOR O.J. O’Gilvie ensured that it was

a real Sweatfest on Saturday at the Life Fit Training Centre,

as he took The Gleaner’s Fit 4 Life team and guests through

a heart-pumping routine that worked every muscle and had

everyone sweating from head to toe.

In fact, participants got no mercy from O.J., fitness guru Juliet

Cuthbert Flynn or fitness coach

Marvin Gordon, who took turns

giving everyone a well-deserved

workout, from warm-up to high-

impact aerobics, and straight

into the challenges.

It was a race against the clock

for the WATA challenge, the

fittest of the fit for the legwork

challenge and who could keep

up in the mix-it-up body weight

challenge.

In the end, the winners earned

prizes such as: an Active fitness band from Asafa Powell,

gift baskets from sponsors Foska Oats and Blue

Diamond Almond Milk, Fit 4 Life T-shirts, free

health evaluation from Advantage Physical

Therapy and Rehabilitation, Life Fit

membership, and

Gleaner

-branded

merchandise.

Throughout

the morning,

participants kept

hydrated, thanks to

Fit 4 Life sponsor

WATA, and had their energy renewed with

power shakes, courtesy of sponsors Foska Oats

and Blue Diamond Almond Milk.

Participants also got handouts with nutrition

and exercise tips, courtesy of Fit 4 Life, and

complimentary copies of

Specially invited guests were bursting with anticipation when they turned out for the 'mysterious' CAMPARI event, held on the East Lawns of  Devon House, St Andrew on Wednesday (November 22,2017), for what turned out to be the fabulous launch of the brand's Come Together Caribbean campaign. 
 
Greeted with flashing lights, great music, and endless cocktails at an open bar, guests could tell that this would be a good night. All they had to do was ‘drink responsibly’. The energy and music helped guests to come together and enjoy the night. 
 
The campaign was launched in the form of a commercial, with local casting led by Amita Persaud-Webb and Jeff Crosley. Both represented the cross-section of Caribbean cultures and people.

Dream entertainment and YUMA served up a slice of heaven during Saturday's Xodus band launch at 36 Hope Road,St Andrew,unveiling their costumes under the theme 'League of Angels' Kamal Bankay,chairman of the National Carnival Committee,told The Gleaner:"Jamaica has its own style of carnival and the execution as well as costumes will dvelop organically to match the celebrations of neighbouring islands as the years go by."
