Simone Coburn, a resident of Alligator Pond in Manchester, is expressing concern about a stagnant pond in the community that is posing a health hazard to residents, as it is also a mosquito-breeding site. The island has been grappling with an outbreak of dengue fever caused by the mosquito-borne virus. Up to the end of September, 5,909 suspected, probable, and confirmed cases of dengue were recorded across the island. There were 135 suspected and confirmed dengue-related deaths over the same period.
