“Did you cover the seat? remember to wash your hand!” Little Alex is standing at the door of a “pit toilet” within her yard which reminds its users of the courtesy of covering the seat after using; as well as a hygienic reminder of washing one’s hand after use. Such irony when facilities like these do indeed create health risks for most children who use pit latrines in this ‘modern day and age’. No child should have to live with such a burden and frustration as can be felt through Alex’s facial expression.
